New Year Escapade at Camiguin Island

This is the first time in my life that I spent New Year outside Davao City with my family. Thanks to our friend Mercy and Ruel-whose hometown is Camiguin Island. I already visited Camiguin Island for so many times but this experience was the best because we had lots of adventures and pictures. We were able to see how the locality celebrated their New Year and experienced fireworks.

At night you will be able to see various decorations that were left during the Christmas Season. There are many Christmas lights on the street as if they are into a competition on what barangay has the most lights and beautiful decoration.

During our 4 days and 3 nights at Catarman, Camiguin Island, we visited various tourist spots like the famous White Island…

The White Island is known to frequently change its shape everytime the tide changes its course. At this time the shape of the Island is crescent. Other times its circle, letter C or letter I. From White Island, you can see the beautiful view of the Old Vulcan and Mt. Hibok-hibok. Since White Island has very clear water, snorkeling and scuba diving is very ideal. The best time to visit the White Island is from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. where the sun is still good for sunbathing.

Next stop is Bura Soda Pool…

Cool bubbles in cool water

Bura Soda Pool has 2 pools in the middle of the garden resort. The smaller one is for kids and the bigger one is for adults and is good for swimming. The pool is cold and sparkling like a champagne because there are bubbles emitted in the middle of the pool.

The last stop for our 1st day tour was Sto. Niño Cold Spring…

Sto. Niño Cold Spring is a very very very cold spring that’s why this is the most popular place to stay during summer time for local tourists. It has a restaurant that offers variety of food like the Tinolang Bisayang Manok with Coconut Milk (yummy), a very good soup to warm your body. Outside the resort you can buy various souvenirs like key chains, figurines, shawls and t-shirts.

Our 2nd day was more relaxing since last night we partied all night as we welcome New Year with a blast. We only went to Ardent Hot Spring…

Ardent Hot Spring is known for its therapeutic effect in our body. It’s like a spa in the middle of nowhere. The hot water emitted by Mt. Hibok-hibok has a sulfur content. There are 6 pools to choose from based on your taste on warmth and depth.

After our restful stay at Ardent, we passed by the Old Volcano…

Here you will see the 14 Stations of the Way of the Cross. On the 14th station you will experience the scenery of the ocean as far as your eyes can see. Last 2007, during the Holy Week, my hubby and I were able to climb upto the 14th station. They said that if you were able to finish the 14 Stations, what you wish and ask for will come true…and it did!

Some places we just passed by were The Sunken Cemetery, The Old Gui-ob Church and The Lagoon.

Become an Employee of Choice

How does it feel when you were called for an interview by a company where you did not submit your resume? To be able to have one is not easy. An employer usually looks at your educational background, work experience and sometimes the University where you came from. What if you don’t have all these things? You’re transcript of record shows that you’re only an average student, just graduated from college, and finished your degree in a not so high standard kind of school.

Don’t feel down because all of us have our own skill that others might not have. Know where you are good at and what you love to do. Everyone is unique in each way. Others may have brilliant brains because they are able to give brilliant ideas; others are brilliant in a way that they can put those brilliant ideas into colorful pictures; and others are brilliant in selling those colorful pictures and make an earning out of it. So list down all the things you are good at and include it in your resume under ‘Special skills’.

Develop your special skills by constant practice, motivation and think positive. If in drawing is where you are good at, then draw. Draw what you like, what you love and what you want to see on your wall. Show your work to other people and let them make comments on it. May it be positive or negative accept it. More if it’s negative because you will have space for improvement. Attach your work in your resume so that the employer will see proof of your work.

Think in advance. Be on the shoes of the employer. What would the employer want to see in your resume? What are the questions that the employer might ask if he sees your resume? What are the qualities that are needed for the position? This entire thing should appear in your resume. Sell yourself.

Think positive. You can do it. Have confidence in yourself. Believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself then who will?

Most people consider money as an essential part of their happiness. People need money to have the comfort in life. To have a splendid vacation. To buy things that they want. To go to the salon to feel and be beautiful. To go to resto bars to buy drinks for their friends and acquaintances.

Others are happy when they are already at the peak of their career. When everyone is already below them in the organization. When people are looking up at them as successful leaders in their field of expertise. When their accomplishments are already in the publication. When their photo is in the cover of a prestigious business magazine.

For some, simply just by seeing their children grow means happiness for them. Not all men, women and couples are blessed with an angel. Conceiving is impossible for them because of some problems like health.

But the best way to be happy is being positive with your life. No matter how many typhoons you will encounter as long as you see your life in a positive way, things will always be okay. And forgive those who hurt you because no one is perfect. They might not did it on purpose.

I have a favorite quote and it goes like this…”When one door closes, a window opens”.

People are just never contented with their lives that’s why they are not happy.  They always crave for something more and sad to say, that is what human nature is.
